Arena Information
In October of 2005, residents of Charlotte and its surrounding areas welcomed a new beacon to Uptown Charlotte. Time Warner Cable Arena, built by the City of Charlotte and operated by Hornets Sports & Entertainment, is home of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and is the premier destination for top-rated concerts and events.
Design
The arena’s design is a “celebration of gathering.” Open walkways, terraces and exposed staircases encourage conversation between arena guests in all areas of the building, providing connectivity and creating community. Fans and visitors will find familiar reflections of the community illustrated through public art and unique displays, which pay tribute to the region’s rich sports and commercial history.
Scoreboard
The dominant visual element in the arena’s seating bowl is the state-of-the-art scoreboard. The center-hung video display and scoreboard is the most technologically advanced scoreboard and sound system in the country and features the largest video screen in use in any NBA facility. Full-screen LED technology allows an unlimited configuration of live and recorded video, scores, animation and graphics. A unique, three-dimensional backlit cityscape above the scoreboard features the Charlotte skyline and uses a 360-degree projection system that allows the skyline to change and feature graphics such as airplanes and fireworks and night-time or daytime skies.
Amenities
Guests will experience a superior level of amenities at Time Warner Cable Arena from unique socializing areas such as Rock the Rooftop, a fan zone in the Uptown Concourse that is open to the bowl for the ultimate in indoor tailgating that includes a kid’s interactive area, to a food and beverage menu with a freshness and diversity that will appeal to all palettes and ages.
